Welcome to UTSAV!
The South Asian Student Association of Lund is a politically and religiously unaffiliated student association. Recognised by the Academic Society (AF), we exist to promote holistic socio-cultural and academic exchange between members of diverse backgrounds.
We are representatives and exist to bring you rich and educational experiences from 8 countries that comprise South Asia - India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Maldives.
Since 2010, Sweden has continued to grow as a popular choice of country for high studies among South Asian students. The inter-mixing of cultures within the international student community has seen a growing interest in the South Asian region. Known for its flamboyant festivals, spicy food, exotic natural beauties, and freestyle banging music, the region has been through turbulent times of war and economy, while continuing to pass on its rich heritage and make a mark in the world. With the growth in the South Asian economy and population, it is important to spread its knowledge and generate interest in the region. At Lund University too, there are several programs and associations, such as SASNET that promote research in the region.

We, at UTSAV, seek to bridge the cultural gap to help build a close-knit familial bond between students who seek to understand each other better. We provide a safe haven for new South Asian students to mingle with the student community and a hub of academic and cultural experiences for international students
We believe in augmenting the inclusive and diverse community at Lund University by providing opportunities for students to experience new cultures through democratic and sustainable means.
Our Mission
The purpose of this association is to spread awareness about South Asian heritage and culture while building and strengthening the international student community at Lund University. We aim to do this by introducing a range of events that offer international students an opportunity to participate in cultural experiences, and South Asian students a chance to reconnect with their roots.

At Lund University, we envision a community where cultural diversity is celebrated, embraced, and where students from all backgrounds find a sense of unity and belonging.
